Granite and Engineered Stone

 

Granite and engineered stone are very similar products in many ways. The cost of both products, are very similar. Both products are extremely hard wearing and durable and they can endure a vast range in temperature differences. Another major benefit of these types of benctops is that you can cut directly onto the surface without scratching.

 

Granite

 

Granite is one of the hardest materials on earth composed primarily of quartz, feldspar and mica. The other minerals present in the stone give granite its unique colour, texture and pattern. It is resistant to scratches, acids, stains and heat. It is long-lasting, durable and available in a wide variety of colours, textures and unique crystal patterns that create a warm and inviting environment for your kitchen or bathroom.

 

The main advantage of using granite is that it has an extraordinary range of colors and patterns with unique features that mother nature, herself designed. It is bacteria resistant, scratch resistant, heat resistant and very easy to clean.

 

Engineered Stone

 

Engineered stone is a composite material comprising of rock and resin. It is used primarily for kitchen benchtops. The material is factory made in slabs, cut and polished by our fabricators and made to specific tolerances to your very own template and assembled at the worksite and fitted by highly trained craftsman.

 

Engineered stone products are gaining in popularity and are sometimes preferred over granite products because engineered stone requires less maintenance and, compared to unsealed granite, has better resistance to stains and bacterial contamination. However, recent research reported in Consumer Reports magazine reveals virtually no difference in performance between quartz based products and sealed granite.
